Checking for Duplicate Dates and Times in a Table

Summary

When you change a field value or save the record, treat two date/time fields in a table as a start time and end time range, and check whether the ranges overlap between rows. If they overlap, show an error.

Smartphone support

This plugin does not support smartphones. Use it on a computer.

How to use

Choose the start and end fields defining each period in the table. See Restrictions for the supported field combinations.

When it runs

Depending on the settings, this customization runs at the following times. Any configured conditions are also evaluated.

  • Immediately before saving a record
  • When you edit and change a target field value

The page-display and field-change triggers exclude inline editing from the pencil icon on the list page.

Parameters

Enter or select a value for each setting unless it is marked optional.

Start Time

Choose the datetime or time field marking the start of each table row’s period.

The following field types can be selected.

  • Time
  • Date and time

Select a field inside a table.

End Time

Choose the datetime or time field marking the end of each table row’s period.

The following field types can be selected.

  • Time
  • Date and time

Select a field inside a table.

Date

When the start and end use time-only fields, specify the field containing their date. Do not combine this setting with datetime fields. This setting is optional.

The following field types can be selected.

  • Date

Select a field inside a table.

Error Message

Enter the message to show when the input fails the check. Explain how the user can correct it.

Initial value: Time is overlapping.

Restrictions

This plugin supports the following two combinations of fields in its parameters.

Start time: Date and time field; End time: Date and time field; Date: no field specified Start time: Time field; End time: Time field; Date: Date field
