Show Input Error on Field

Summary

When you change a field value or save the record, treat it as an error if certain conditions are met and cancel the save. The error is shown on the field.

How to use

Set the error condition and message, then choose the field where the message will appear. Use it to explain the problem close to the item the user needs to correct.

When it runs

Depending on the settings, this customization runs at the following times. Any configured conditions are also evaluated.

  • Immediately before saving a record
  • When you edit and change a target field value

The page-display and field-change triggers exclude inline editing from the pencil icon on the list page.

Parameters

Enter or select a value for each setting unless it is marked optional.

Fields to display errors

Please select the field where you want to display an error message if the conditions for an error are met.

The following field types cannot be selected.

  • Calculated
  • Record number
  • Created by
  • Created datetime
  • Updated by
  • Updated datetime
  • Status
  • Assignee
  • Table
  • Related records
  • Field group
  • Label
  • Blank space
  • Border

Error Message

Enter the message to show when the input fails the check. Explain how the user can correct it.

Initial value: There is an Error.

Items subject to value checks when edited

When editing, if there are fields for which you want to display an error when the conditions in the “Fields to Display Errors For” section are met, specify them here. You can select more than one field. This setting is optional.

The following field types cannot be selected.

Conditions under which an error occurs

Please enter the conditions that cause an error. If you specify multiple conditions, an error will occur only when all conditions are met. Configure at least 1 entries. You can configure up to 5 entries.
